Dr. Susan Micklow was born and raised in Marquette, Michigan and is a graduate of Northern Michigan University. Following graduation, she went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1987. Dr Micklow was then selected for a 3 year advanced postgraduate training program in endodontics at the University of Michigan, earning her Masters degree. During this period, she was also employed as an adjunct professor at the dental school, teaching preclinical and clinical endodontics to the undergraduate students. Since 1990, her practice has been exclusively dedicated to endodontics.
A native of the Upper Peninsula, Dr Micklow was happy to return home to establish the first endodontic practice in the UP. She is very proud to be a third generation dentist, following in her father's and grandfather's footsteps. Her grandfather, Bernhardt Toivo Micklow, practiced dentistry for over 50 years in Marquette, primarily in the Savings Bank building where she currently has her office. Dr Micklow's father, Jarrett Bruce Micklow, established the first orthodontic practice in the Upper Peninsula in 1964.
Dr Micklow is board certified and licensed by the State of Michigan Board of Dentistry and the Michigan Department of Community Health as an Endodontic Specialist. Additionally, she is a specialist member of the American Association of Endodontists and the Michigan Association of Endodontists. She is also an active member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, and the Superior District Dental Society.
In addition to maintaining a busy specialty practice for over 20 years, Dr. Micklow loves spending time with her family, pursuing many shared outdoor interests. She is an avid golfer and enjoys family and good friends, hiking, watching sporting events, music, and traveling.
